When Thai and English bid schedules disagree
Bilingual packs are common in Bangkok tenders. Small wording gaps between language versions can move totals by more than a rounding error.
Many invitations in Thailand circulate with Thai and English schedules. Suppliers sometimes paste unit rates into one language version and leave the other partially blank, or translate a quantity note incorrectly.
Our practice is to treat the invitation’s governing-language clause as the authority, then test whether the other language version carries the same arithmetic. Where the invitation is silent, we ask the chair which version the committee will rely on before we finish the opinion letter.
A frequent finding: English sheets show monthly maintenance while Thai sheets show annual totals without a clear multiplier. The cover letter looks tidy; the extensions do not. Catching that before award is cheaper than explaining it after a challenge.
